Reality checks are a key part of lucid dreaming practice. By questioning your reality during the day, you can train your mind to do the same in your dreams. Common techniques include counting your fingers, looking at a clock, or trying to push your hand through a wall. What reality checks have worked best for you? One of the best techniques I’ve found is checking my hands throughout the day. Sometimes they look odd, and it reminds me to do a reality check in my dreams.

I love the nose-pinch technique! If I can breathe while pinching my nose, I know I’m dreaming. It’s a quick way to determine reality and it works for me.

Writing down reality checks in a journal has helped me remember to do them. I try to set reminders throughout the day to keep the habit.

I’ve also tried using external cues, like setting an alarm to remind me to check if I’m dreaming. It’s a helpful way to train my mind.

I think it’s all about consistency. The more we remind ourselves to check, the more likely we’ll become aware in our dreams. It’s like building a habit!
