Can Lucid Dreaming Help Recreate Past Trauma? - (October 27, 2024, 12:00:00 AM)

I’ve read that some people use lucid dreaming to go back and change or confront past traumatic events. It’s supposed to be a way of taking control and finding healing. Has anyone tried this or thought about using lucid dreaming in this way?

I’ve read that some people use lucid dreaming to face traumatic memories in a controlled way. I wonder if it’s a good idea to re-experience those events, though, or if it could make things worse.

I’ve tried revisiting a painful memory in a lucid dream, and it was like watching a movie of it. It helped me process things, but it was also emotionally exhausting.

Maybe using lucid dreaming for trauma is a bit like exposure therapy? I could see it helping if you can take control of the narrative and change how you react to it.
