Ever wake up from an incredible dream only to forget it moments later? Many people experience this frustrating phenomenon. Research suggests that we forget dreams because our brains prioritize important information while we sleep.

During REM sleep, when most dreaming occurs, our brains are highly active, but the neurotransmitters responsible for memory formation are turned off. This means that while we are dreaming, we are not encoding those memories into long-term storage.

What are your strategies for remembering dreams? Have you ever tried keeping a dream journal?

Forgetting dreams is so frustrating! Iโ€™ve tried keeping a journal by my bed, but I still forget most of them. It makes me curious about what my brain decides is worth remembering.

I totally relate! Sometimes I wake up with a feeling that I had a great dream, but it slips away. I wonder if itโ€™s tied to how much we stress or relax before sleep.
